Yuxiao Zhang is a Ph.D. candidate in law at McGill University. Her thesis, titled “State Interest in Copyright Law,” highlights the often omitted but crucial role that the state plays in copyright law, addressing the issue from a comparative law perspective (Canada, France, and China). At McGill, Ms. Zhang is affiliated with the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy and the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law. Her research spans various areas, including copyright law, governance, the intersection between property law and environmental protection, and intangible cultural heritage. Prior to her Ph.D., Ms. Zhang earned B.A., L.L.B. and L.L.M. degrees from the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL).
