Veronica Pravadelli is Full Professor of film studies at Roma Tre University, currently Rector’s Delegate for the relationships with film and performing arts institutions. Her main areas of research are: classical Hollywood cinema, women's cinema, and Italian post-neorealist cinema. Her work intersects film theory, gender studies, contemporary thought and film analysis. Former visiting professor in film studies at Brown University, she is the author of several books, including Performance, Rewriting, Identity: Chantal Akerman’s Postmodern Cinema (2000); Alfred Hitchcock: Notorius (2003); Le donne del cinema: dive, registe, spettatrici (2014); and Dal classico al postmoderno al global: teoria e analisi delle forme filmiche (2019). The Italian edition of her volume Classic Hollywood: Lifestyles and Film Styles of American Cinema, 1930-1960 (2015) won two prizes for Best Book in Film Studies. Besides Italy, her work has appeared in the United States, England, France, Germany and Greece.
