Independent artist, author of 14 monographs, over a thirty-five year’s research around the human figure, Fiorio questions the dialectic-interrelation between presence and vision. Fiorio’s book The Gift has been granted the UNESCO High Patronage in 2009. Since 2010, the ongoing project Humanum, addresses the human statuary archetype in the perception of our time. Organising by polyptych-ensemble different figures of the same original statuary, Fiorio’s works unveil the transfiguration of sculptural appearance in the variation of light. For the project Humanum, Fiorio has collaborated with Ca’ Foscari University of Venice; Scuola Universitaria Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa and worked so far at the National Archaeological Museum and the Acropolis Museum of Athens; the Louvre Museum in Paris; the Iraq Museum of Baghdad; the Kunsthistorisches Museum of Wien; the National Archaeological Museum of Cyprus in Nicosia; the Egyptian Museum of Cairo; the Royal Commission of Al-Ula at King Saud Museum in Riyadh; the Jordan Museum of Amman; the Al-Thani Collection in Paris. Hosted by the European Chair of Victor’s Stoichita, Humanum has been presented for the first time at the College de France in Paris, in 2018. The presentation of Humanum works around the Sumerian masterpiece Lady of Warka, in collaboration with Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, received the Patronage of the Italian Commission of the UNESCO in 2016. Founder and director of the contemporary photography international seminar Reflexions Masterclass (2002-2012); Faculty at the International Center of Photography (ICP) of New York, (2007-2014), and Faculty-Master of World Press Photo Masterclass Joop Swart (2004) in Amsterdam, Fiorio has been a Jury Member (Orizzonti) of the 64th edition of Mostra del Cinema di Venezia (2007) and is affiliated to Scuola Universitaria Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa since 2016. Her books have been published in Italy, France, Germany and Greece. Over 30 personal shows, among which: Triennale di Milano; Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris; Rencontres d’Arles; Institute of Polytechnic of Tokyo; Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Castello di Rivoli, Turin; Scuderie del Quirinale, Rome; Biennale d’Arte di Venezia 2013, 2015; Biennale de l’Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris. December 2017 to May 2018 her works around the Lady of Warka have been on display at the Iraq Museum of Baghdad; January to May 2023, Humanum works around three masterpieces of the Egyptian Museum of Cairo, have been on display with the originals in the Egyptian Museum of Tahrir Square. Engaged since November 2023, in the realisation of a series of works around three masterpieces at Louvre Museum in Paris, Fiorio pursue in parallel a vast study around the ontogenesis of the Cosmogonic Myth in its the resonance with the Fundamental Research according to a universal law of invariance.
