Starting in the cultural world as director of exhibitions, catalogues and organisation, in the Elemond publishing Group (Einaudi, Electa) from 1990 to 2000; particularly important the period between 1995 and 2000, when, in addition to its publishing activities, the group extended to the Cultural Heritage sector for the management of museum services and the organisation of exhibition events. Called by the Venice Biennale (Visual Arts and Architecture), in 2000, moved to Venice where he held the position of Organisation Director alongside Harald Szeeman. In 2003 became Director of Institutional Activities and Communication of the Fondazione di Venezia (formerly Cassa di Risparmio) and in 2010 turned General Director of the Foundation. One his most popular achievement is the recovery, reconception of the design and reopening of the historical Casa dei Tre Oci in Venice, converted into a major international venue for hosting photography exhibition.

Achilli also collaborated with Arthemisia, Silvana Editoriale and Bondardo Comunicazione. From 2004 to 2020 he has been member of the: Board of Directors of the company Art Defender, Milan; Board of Directors of Civita Cultura Holding, Rome; Board of Directors of FEST (Fenice Servizi Teatrali), service company of the Gran Teatro La Fenice, Venice - Committees “Communicating with culture: new media for companies” and “Art & Enterprise: Corporate Cultural Responsibility of the Civita Association”, Rome; Board of Directors of the Allemandi publishing house, Turin; Managing Director of Civita Tre Venezia, Venice; Culture Commission of Acri, Rome; member of the Ateneo Veneto di Scienze Lettere e Arti, Venice. Returning to Milan in the autumn of 2020, he became a partner in Cluster–A, a company specializing in corporate cultural and communication projects for institutions and companies and for consultancies related to the world of collecting, designing exhibitions, books and art catalogues.
