Dr. Ahmed F. Khalifa is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Law and International Criminal Law at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. Since 2014, he serves as the Deputy Secretary General of the International Association of Penal Law and serves also as a member of the Board of Directors of the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, in Siracusa, Italy. Dr. Khalifa is an expert consultant with the ICRC in the MENA region where he is constantly advising on several projects, delivers training across the region on arab laws and IHL. Furthermore, he is the technical expert for the translation of the new commentaries of the Geneva Conventions into Arabic. Moreover, he serves as a consultant with several international organizations including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in the MENA Region, the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) and the World Bank in Egypt. Previously, he served as a full time in-house legal consultant with the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), Torino, Italy. Dr. Khalifa is the coordinator of several moot court competitions across the Middle East. Since 2014 he is the Coordinator of the Middle East Rounds of Oxford Price Media Moot Court Competition of Oxford University (in English), he is also the Coordinator of the International Committee of the Red Cross Moot Court Competition (in Arabic) for Arab Universities since 2015, moreover he is the Coordinator of the Moot Court Competition of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie in the Middle East (in French). Dr. Khalifa obtained his Phd in International Criminal Law from Poitiers University in France after finishing his LLM focusing on International Human Rights Law from Temple University, USA. His areas of research covers international criminal law, international humanitarian law and comparative criminal law.
